What is an Oriel Window?

An Oriel window is a architectural design element. In modern times we call them bay windows.

They come in a lot of variations including single pane window and multiple pane window.

They are most often located on an upper story of a building but can be on the lowest floor.

And they are often supported underneath by Corbels.

They date all the way back to the middle ages.

Prudhoe Castle boasts that it has the oldest recorded Oriel Window.
