Alcazar of Segovia

Alcazar means fortress and this is literally the Fortress of Segovia.

This is an iconic medieval fortress. It was built in the 12th century on top of the ruins of a roman fort.

It is open to the public and among other things there is a spectacular view of Segovia from one of the towers. (The tower of Juan II)

It is a Fairy tale like fortress and castle and is known as being one of the inspirations for the design of the Disney castle.

Here is a painting of the Alcazar done by the Spanish artist Jose Maria Avrial in 1864.
